Sexting on the Rise in America

By Jameson Fleming

An Associated Press-MTV Poll has found that teenagers are increasingly "sexting" or sharing sexually explicit images and video by cell phone or online means.

The poll found that about a quarter of all teenagers have "sexted" before which is actually considered a criminal offense. If caught, teenagers can be charged with possessing child pornography.

The act of sexting increases with age as about a third of young adults surveyed by the AP and MTV say they've been asked or have sent nude pictures to another person.

The popularity of sexting has inspired a College Humor video that mocks the negative aspects of the act.
