Tiki Maybin - former SU recruit - charged with dealing cocaineBy Andrew Allegretta
TROY, NY - Police have arrested and charged Binghamton University basketball player Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben with possessing and selling cocaine in his hometown of Troy.
Police say Maybin had 3.4 grams of cocaine when he was arrested Wednesday night. He was held in jail overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned today on felony drug charges.
History of Problems
As a freshman in high school, Mayben was ranked as the number 1 player in the country and verbally committed to play for SU, but never made it here. He had a 2.0 GPA his senior year and his SAT scores weren't high enough to attend SU.
He ended up going to UMass, but that didn't last long. One year later he headed back home and went to Hudson Valley Community College. Again, that didn't last long. After just one year, he moved on to Binghamton University.
'08-'09 with BU was his best year on the court. Mayben set a school single-season record for assists and led Binghamton to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament.
