Fixing I-81 Traffic Jams

By Kaci Lindhorst

Syracuse, NY---State Department of Transportation officials say that a plan is underway to solve the traffic problem on Interstate-81. The trouble spot begins on 81 going southbound toward downtown Syracuse.

Gene Cilento, speaking for the department, says there are at least 15-minute delays affecting traffic from Hiawatha Blvd to the Interstate-690 interchange.

It'll Get Worse Before it Gets Better

The construction for the alternate routes have caused even more traffic delays as drivers are not used to taking the detours.

The Division Street ramp is expected to be closed until the end of October.
