Consumers Should Be on Alert During Holiday Season
by Mike Tressa
The U.S. Secret Service wants holiday shoppers and retailers to be extra careful this year to combat counterfeiters. Crowded stores and rushed cashiers make the holidays a perfect time for people to commit fraud. Both consumers and retailers must be cautious while doing their shopping.
Shoppers should double check their change, protect all credit card numbers and review transcation details and receipts. Retailers must be on the watch for fake credit and gift cards, as well as to review customer signatures.
Another tip is to never give personal information over the phone or Internet to unknown sites or emails.
